Ironman 70.3 Goa Event: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya, set a new record on Sunday (27 October 2024). He has become the first MP to participate in the 2024 Ironman 70.3 Goa event. It is a challenging triathlon, consisting of 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running.
PM Modi has tweeted on this achievement of Tejaswi Surya. He wrote, “An achievement worth praising! I am sure it will inspire many more youngsters to take up fitness related activities.”
‘Inspired by PM Modi’s Fit India Movement’
Tejasvi Surya’s participation in the Ironman Challenge is only to send the message that developing physical courage and stamina should be a part of the daily life of citizens. On this occasion, OSD to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Sanket Arsekar also participated in the competition and thanked the organizers.
Sanket Arsekar said, “I was inspired by Modi ji’s Fit India Movement to participate in this competition. Last year, BJP Yuva Morcha President Tejasvi Surya inspired me to participate in it and this year I actually participated in it. Took. I appeal to other people also to participate in this.”
Participants from more than 75 cities and towns of India participated
The fourth edition of Ironman 70.3 Goa was inaugurated by Goa Minister Govind Gawde in the presence of BJP MP Tejashwi Surya and former Indian tennis player Leander Paes. The competition has attracted triathletes from more than 57 countries since its inception. The fourth edition saw participants from over 75 cities and towns across India, with over 120 contestants from government services, of which 12-15 per cent were women.
Surya had participated in Ironman 70.3 Goa in 2022 as a member of a relay team, but this year he participated and completed the race in all three events. Olympic swimmer Sajan Prakash also participated in this event. The Fit India Movement, launched by Prime Minister Modi on 29 August 2019, aims to motivate citizens towards a more active lifestyle.
