Suspense on Karnataka CM continues, meeting lasted till late night, what did Sonia Gandhi say to Shivkumar?

Karnataka CM Race: No decision has yet been taken regarding the name of the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. On Wednesday (May 17), the process of meetings continued in the Congress throughout the day. There was a gathering of leaders at the residence of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. The BJP also took a jibe at the Congress over the delay in announcing the name of the CM. On which the Congress also retaliated. Know the big things related to this political movement.

1. Both the leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, who are considered strong contenders for the post of Chief Minister, held separate meetings with former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday. Siddaramaiah held talks with Rahul Gandhi for about half an hour and Shivakumar for more than an hour. After meeting Rahul Gandhi, Shivakumar went to the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and met him. Later Shivkumar discussed with Surjewala.

2. After this meeting, sources said that there seems to be a consensus on the name of Siddaramaiah. Meanwhile, sources also said that DK Shivakumar has been offered the post of Deputy CM with six portfolios, but he did not agree to anything from the CM.

3. Sources said Shivakumar has also spoken on the phone to former party chief Sonia Gandhi, who is learned to have asked her to go to Kharge. Earlier, Shivakumar had said that he will not blackmail anyone for any post, Sonia Gandhi is his role model. DK Shivakumar reached the residence of Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal at night. He said that there is nothing to tell now. We have left it to the high command. The high command will take a decision. I’m going to rest.

4. Supporters of former chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah started celebrating outside his residence ahead of the announcement of the chief minister’s name. Simultaneously, preparations were started at the Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium for the Chief Minister’s swearing-in ceremony in Bengaluru. Also inspected the stadium with senior officials.

5. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will announce whatever decision will be taken regarding the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Till the announcement is not made, do not pay attention to the news and rumors going on in the name of the Chief Minister. The name of the Chief Minister will be announced in the next 48-72 hours. The discussion on the name of the Chief Minister is going on.

6. In the midst of doubts about the Chief Minister, the party also advised its leaders to stay away from rhetoric. Party general secretary and in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Surjewala tweeted that I have advised all Congress leaders not to make statements on the issue of leadership. Any statement made without permission will be treated as indiscipline and action will be taken accordingly.

7. The Congress publicly denied this after news about Shivakumar’s displeasure appeared in the media and Siddaramaiah was agreed upon for the chief minister’s post. Party general secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala said that it is being spread by the BJP. There is no need to pay attention to rumours, as no decision has been taken so far.

8. On the continuing suspense regarding the name of the CM, the Congress was also taunted by the BJP. Karnataka’s outgoing Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the Congress’s inability to quickly decide on a new chief minister despite having a clear majority reflects its internal position. He urged the Congress to resolve the issue of government formation soon.

9. Responding to the criticism being made by the BJP, the Congress said that the BJP had declared its chief ministers in Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Assam several days after winning the elections. Surjewala said that it took 10 days for the BJP to decide on the Chief Ministers in many states. BJP is getting frustrated after the defeat in Karnataka, which is understood.

10. Surjewala alleged that the BJP, upset by the defeat, was spreading rumours. As a precautionary measure, security has been beefed up in Karnataka’s DK Shivakumar’s hometown Ramanagara district in view of protests being held at various places by his fans.
