Commitment to achieve permanent membership in UNSC
Another commitment for India is to achieve permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). BJP has also included this prominently in its election manifesto. In the manifesto, BJP has said that we want to strengthen India’s position to take decisions at the global level. For this, we have a commitment to get permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council.
Focus will be on dealing with international terrorism
BJP also said that it will continue efforts to build consensus among all members of the United Nations on the Comprehensive Convention against International Terrorism and other such efforts to deal with such incidents. It said that work will be done on the success of the ‘No Money for Terror’ conference to develop coordination to combat the financing of terrorism. BJP has continuously worked to strengthen the country’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against terrorism.
