Home Ministry took major action in Delhi. Here, Delhi Assembly Secretary and DANICS cadre officer Raj Kumar was suspended by the Home Ministry in a case of alleged irregularities related to Rani Jhansi flyover. In this case, Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service officer Raj Kumar, while reacting to the action of the Home Minister, said that he was not given a chance to clarify his stand on the suspension in the old case.
Meanwhile, while talking to news agency PTI, Raj Kumar said that I have received the order of the Home Ministry regarding my suspension. This is an old case and I was not given any chance to present my side, so I have nothing more to say now. In such a situation, according to the order issued by the Home Ministry on April 16, ‘disciplinary action’ is being taken against Kumar.
What is the matter?
In fact, the Civil Services Authority had recommended the suspension of the Delhi Assembly Secretary in September 2023 following the recommendations of a panel of senior officials of the Delhi government. However, Raj Kumar has been suspended from DANICS with immediate effect. Let us tell you that Raj Kumar’s suspension was over alleged irregularities related to the construction of the 1.8 km long Rani Jhansi flyover, which connects Filmistan Cinema Hall in North Delhi to St. Stephen’s Hospital.
Delay due to corruption allegations
Along with this, this flyover, which was built at a cost of Rs 724 crore, was delayed due to allegations of corruption and problems related to land acquisition. After a delay of almost 20 years, the flyover was opened for public use in 2018. According to this new report, in November 2022, an Lokpal bench had asked the Central Vigilance Commission to consider all available documents and ongoing court cases and fix responsibility and recover additional payments related to the flyover project.
