Steve Smith Test Centuries: After Travis Head, Steve Smith has also completed a century in the Brisbane Test. Smith completed his century in 185 balls and also hit 12 fours in this innings. This is the 33rd century of Smith’s Test career and 10th against India. Smith was not able to score a century in Test matches after June 2023, but now he has touched the 100-run mark in Test matches for the first time in the last one and a half years.
Steve Smith came to bat at fourth position in the Brisbane Test. When he came to the crease, Australia had lost 2 wickets at the score of just 38. In the first two sessions, Smith batted vigorously and tried to spend more time on the pitch. But in the third session of the second day, Smith wreaked havoc on the Indian bowlers. Before him, Travis Head has also scored the 9th century of his Test career in the same match. By the time Smith completed his century, his partnership with Travis Head had reached 238 runs.
Century came after 535 days
Steve Smith’s last century before the Brisbane Test against India came during the 2023 Ashes series. At that time in June 2023, he had played an inning of 110 runs at Lord’s ground. After that he had to wait a long time of 535 days and 25 innings to score a century. Smith’s condition was such that within the last one and a half year, he had touched the 50-run mark only on four occasions.
