Steve Smith scored a century in Test cricket after 535 days, created chaos in Gabba against India

This is the 33rd century of Smith’s Test career and 10th against India. Century came after 535 days

Steve Smith’s last century before the Brisbane Test against India came during the 2023 Ashes series. At that time in June 2023, he had played an inning of 110 runs at Lord’s ground. After that he had to wait a long time of 535 days and 25 innings to score a century. Smith’s condition was such that within the last one and a half year, he had touched the 50-run mark only on four occasions.

Steve Smith has now jointly reached the first place with Joe Root in the list of batsmen who have scored the most centuries in Test matches against India. Both Smith and Root have scored 10 centuries in Test cricket against India. After him in this list comes the name of great West Indies batsman Gary Sobers, who played 8 century innings against Team India in the longer format.
