Shubhman Gill Injury Border Gavaskar Trophy: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has not even started yet, and even before that the Indian team has faced many problems. Captain Rohit Sharma will not play the first Test, while Shubman Gill’s thumb fracture is also a matter of concern. Recently it was told that Gill has not suffered a fracture and he can be seen playing in the second match. Meanwhile, the statement of Team India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel has raised hopes that Gill can be seen playing in the Perth Test also.
Morne Morkel told in the press conference that Shubman Gill is getting better with each passing day and it is possible that he will play the first test. He said, “Gil is getting better every single day, we will take a decision on his playing or not on the morning of 22nd November. He played well in the practice match, so we can’t say anything right now.”
Importance of Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is very important for the Indian team in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024. He has also played in 2020-21 and then 2022-23 Border Gavaskar Trophy. Gill’s importance is even greater because he has gained experience of playing on Australian soil in the 2020-21 series. In that series, Gill had scored 259 runs in 6 innings of three matches. He played an important role in giving Team India a historic victory by playing an inning of 91 runs in the fourth Test played at Gabba.
Another matter of concern for the Indian team is that Rohit Sharma will not play in the first test. At the same time, the absence of Mohammed Shami in the squad is also creating problems for India. Shami has made a comeback in Ranji Trophy, while he will be seen playing for Bengal in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy also. There are also speculations that Shami may join the Indian team in the middle of the series, but nothing is clear yet.
