Kartarpur Corridor Family Meet-Up: 75 years after the partition of India-Pakistan, a man and his sister were reunited at the Kartarpur Corridor. The meeting of these two became possible through social media. Mahendra Kaur, who lives in India, is now 81 years old. Met her 78-year-old brother Sheikh Abdul Aziz from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir through the Kartarpur Corridor.

According to Dawn News, the two came to know through social media posts that they were siblings separated during Partition in 1947. During the partition of India-Pakistan, the family of Bhajan Singh, who was living in Punjab of India, was in grief. During partition, Abdul Aziz of Singh’s family moved to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, while other members of his family remained in India. After which Aziz got married at a young age. However, Aziz always yearned to be reunited with his parents and other family members.

Another separated family meetup at Kartarpur Corridor (a Corridor of Peace). Mr sheikh Abdul Aziz and his sister Mohinder kaur who got separated at the time of partition in 1947 met at Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib kartarpur.

Sweets distributed on the meeting of brother and sister

The post was shared on social media that the brother and sister were separated during the partition. After joining this post, both the families came to know that Mahendra and Aziz are actually brother and sister. Mahendra Kaur had tears of joy in her eyes on seeing her brother during the meeting. Mahendra Kaur repeatedly hugged her brother and kissed his hands.

Along with this, both the families also visited Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur on both Sundays. Both the families also gave gifts to each other as a mark of reunion. In the joy of meeting the brother and sister, the Kartarpur administration garlanded both the families and distributed sweets.
