Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalayas will soon be opened on a large scale across the country. Many decisions were taken in the Union Cabinet meeting held today. During this, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made a big announcement in the field of education in the country. He said that 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas and 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas will be opened in those districts, which till now were not under the purview of Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme. This step is an important step towards promoting affordable and high quality education across the country.
Changes under the new education policy
The Union Minister said that PM Shri Yojana has been started to successfully implement the New Education Policy (NEP). Under this, all Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas have been designated as PM Shri Schools. These schools will be developed as model schools so that a standard can be set in the field of education. The Union Minister said that PM Shri was brought in during the second term of the Prime Minister. In this, Kendriya Vidyalaya and the new Navodaya Vidyalaya were named as PM Shri Schools so that they could be made a model for other schools.

With the establishment of new Kendriya Vidyalayas, more than 82,000 students across the country will get the opportunity of affordable and quality education. At present there are a total of 1,256 functioning Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country, out of which three are located abroad. Moscow, Kathmandu and Tehran. About 13.56 lakh students are studying in these schools.
