After the release of prisoners held in Syrian prisons by the rebels, a new hope has arisen among their families.
According to the Washington Post report, on Sunday (December 8), noise was heard as people searched for their family members in this facility located near Damascus, where there was often silence. After the fall of the Assad regime, prison guards evacuated their posts and even left the prison doors open.

Family members of prisoners lodged in jail can be seen in the pictures going viral on social media. People are inquiring to meet their missing family members. After the capture of Damascus by rebels on Sunday (December 8), security personnel deployed in prisons across the country vacated their posts. The people of Syria are now waiting for information about 1 lakh missing prisoners.
During this time, television broadcasts in Syria also showed the government’s secret detention centers. In these footage, people in jail can be seen without shoes and in a weak condition. According to Amnesty International, Saadnaya Jail once housed 20,000 prisoners at a time. This infamous jail is also called the slaughterhouse of humans. Old prisoners told that they also told about many deaths in this jail.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) on Saturday (December 7) announced the release of 3,500 prisoners from the Homs military prison. On Sunday (December 8), he also announced the end of the torture in Saadanaya prison, which was known for the cruelty of the Assad regime.
