Assam flood: It has been raining continuously in Assam for the last few days. Because of this, three districts of the state have been submerged in floods. Not only this, 25 villages are under flood water and the crop of 215.57 hectares area has been destroyed in entire Assam. At Dibrugarh in upper Assam, the currents of the Brahmaputra river have crossed the embankment, due to which this danger has arisen. This is the reason why the rising water currents of the Brahmaputra river are posing a threat to Dibrugarh.
The currents of Brahmaputra river are making the situation frightening in Mainjan area of Dibrugarh. About a year ago, the Brahmaputra river had caused erosion in this area itself. After which the construction of a new safety dam started, but if the rising water currents of the Brahmaputra river cross its limits, then there will be danger for the city of Dibrugarh. On the other hand, in Lakhimpur, Goalpara, Vishwanath, Dhemaji, Baksa, Dima Hasao and Karimganj districts, embankments, roads, bridges have also suffered heavy damage due to flood water.
37,535 people affected by floods in 10 districts
The Guwahati-based Regional Meteorological Center has predicted heavy rainfall in the northeastern region during the next five days. According to the Central Water Commission (CWC), the Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger mark at Nimatighat in Jorhat district. At the same time, rivers are flowing above the danger mark in Kopili in Kampur (Nagaon) and Puthimari in Kamrup district.
The CWC bulletin states that several other rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are flowing above the danger mark in different areas of the state. It has been raining continuously in the entire state for the past few days, due to which the first wave of floods has occurred and a large number of people have been affected. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report, till Saturday, 37,535 people were affected by the floods in 10 districts of the state.
