Shraddha had sought help from these two people after Aftab assaulted her, the family of the accused absconded

Shraddha Murder Case: A Delhi Police team on Saturday recorded the statements of four people in Maharashtra’s Palghar, including two people with whom 27-year-old Shraddha had a live-in partner in 2020. Aftab Poonawala had sought help after being assaulted. Among the other two people whose statements were recorded by this team, one is the former manager of the Mumbai call center where Shraddha used to work and the other is a friend of hers.

Local police said Aftab Poonawalla’s family members fled from a building on Mira Road near Mumbai to an undisclosed location and have not been traced. He had come to live in this building only last month. The Delhi Police team is at Manikpur in Vasai of Palghar district, which is Shraddha’s ancestral area. Shraddha and Aftab stayed here before going to the national capital Delhi. A police officer said that the two men whose statements have been recorded were identified as Rahul Rai and Godwin and both of them are residents of Vasai area.

The statement of Shraddha’s friend Laxman Nadar was also recorded.
He said that one person is a rickshaw puller, while the other is currently unemployed. According to the police officer, Shraddha had sought help from both of them after she was beaten up by Aftab Poonawala near Vasai in 2020 and both of them helped her at that time. The official said that a four-member team of Delhi Police, which reached Mumbai on Friday, had earlier recorded the statement of Shraddha’s friend Laxman Nadar. According to a police officer of Meera Bhayandar Vasai Virar, Delhi Police on Saturday spoke to some officials of the housing society and went to Aftab’s flat which was locked.

Shraddha’s father said – did not know when his daughter went to Delhi
Meanwhile, Shraddha’s father Vikas Walkar claimed on Saturday that he had earlier visited Aftab’s house in Vasai, but was insulted and warned by his family members not to come here again. He said he did not know when his daughter moved to Delhi, where she was murdered in May this year. He demanded justice for Shraddha and harshest punishment for Aftab for this dastardly crime.

Police recovered some body parts in Gurugram
According to the Delhi Police, Aftab allegedly strangulated Shraddha on May 18 and cut her body into 35 pieces, which he kept in a refrigerator for about three weeks at his residence in south Delhi’s Mehrauli and kept it for several days. Was throwing up across town at midnight. Delhi Police on Friday sent its teams to Maharashtra, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh to look for evidence in the case. The authorities had recovered some body parts in Gurugram.
