Shoojit Sircar On Working With Abhishek Bachchan On ‘I Want To Talk’: ‘I Laughed Every Day…’

In a recent heartfelt reflection, director Shoojit Sircar opened up about the powerful performance delivered by Abhishek Bachchan in the upcoming film I Want to Talk. Shoojit shared an emotional anecdote, highlighting the profound impact of Abhishek’s portrayal of Arjun Singh, a character grappling with a terminal illness.

Speaking about the film, Shoojit revealed a conversation he had with Bachchan during the shoot, where the actor, in character as Arjun Singh, shared a deeply poignant line: “I am now married to cancer, so now I have to take it with me .” This raw, yet uplifting, perspective encapsulated the essence of Arjun’s journey—one of acceptance, strength, and resilience in the face of an inevitable fate.

“The way he smiled and spoke about the character’s challenges, it gave me the force to move forward with the project,” Shoojit shared, acknowledging how Bachchan’s nuanced portrayal brought an empowering energy to the film.

For Shoojit, this was not just a film about illness, but one about living life fully, even in the face of hardship. “I laughed every day and with every scene because of the way Abhishek brought this character to life,” the director said. Abhishek’s role, according to Shoojit, is a tribute to human spirit and the way we can find strength, even in the most difficult circumstances.

‘I Want to Talk’ is slated to release in theaters on November 22, 2024. The film also stars Johnny Lever and Ahilya Bamroo and is produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Shoojit Sircar under Rising Sun Films.
