Shelly Oberoi’s term ends, know when will the mayor’s election be held in Delhi?

MCD Mayor Election 2023: The first year’s term of the Mayor of Delhi Municipal Corporation has come to an end on 31 March. After this, once again the murmur of the election of the MCD mayor has started. According to official sources, a fresh election of the Mayor in Delhi is likely to be held by the end of April. According to sources, till the new Mayor is elected, Shelly Oberoi will continue to hold the charge of this post. An official source said that the next election for the post of Mayor is likely to be held in the end of April. Shelly Oberoi will continue in this post till the new Mayor is elected.

Significantly, Aam Aadmi Party councilor Shaili Oberoi was elected the mayor of Delhi on 22 February. He defeated BJP’s Rekha Gupta by a margin of 34 votes. Shelly Oberoi got 150 votes, while Rekha Gupta got 116 out of total 266 votes. The polling took place at the Civic Centre, the headquarters of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Delhi got mayor in the fourth attempt

Delhi got a mayor in the fourth attempt, as the elections were not held amid an uproar over giving voting rights to nominated members. Delhi will get a new mayor after the end of this financial year. Meanwhile, Shelly Oberoi on Monday held a special meeting with the councilors and officials of the City-Sadar-Paharganj zone to review the development works.

AAP had won 134 seats in the MCD elections.

Let us tell you that in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections last year, the Aam Aadmi Party got success in 134 seats. On the other hand, 104 seats were won by BJP, 9 by Congress and 3 by others. After this, there was an uproar in the house 4 times regarding the election of the mayor, deputy mayor and members of the standing committee. Although, the election of mayor and deputy mayor was done for the fourth time, but the election of the members of the standing committee could not be done till now.
