Former Australia spinner Shane Warne has expressed his desire to become the coach of the England cricket team. He has said that he can do a much better job for England. Warne also said that this is the right time to become the coach of England.
England’s head coach Chris Silverwood was sacked after a crushing 4-0 loss to Australia in the Ashes. After this Paul Collingwood was made the interim head coach of the England team. At present, the England Cricket Board is yet to select a permanent head coach for its team.
While talking on the cricket podcast of Sky Sports, Warne has expressed his desire for this position. Warne said, ‘I would love to do this. This is the right time to become the coach of England. I think that I can do this work very well. There are a lot of good players in England. There is a lot of depth in this team. But they need to get some basic things right. You can’t bowl so many no balls, you shouldn’t drop so many catches. You have players but they just are not able to perform.
If the England Cricket Board considers Warne eligible for this post, then he will face a challenge from his former teammate Justin Langer. The name of Langer, a former Australia batsman and who recently resigned as the coach of the Kangaroo team after the Ashes series, is also in discussion for the head coach of England. Although there has been no official comment on this yet.
