Sensex-Nifty closed with heavy fall for the fifth consecutive day, investors lost Rs 17 lakh crore


Stock Market Closing On 4 October 2024: In the last trading session of the week and for the fifth consecutive day, the Indian stock market closed with a huge fall. There was huge volatility in the market throughout the day. The market opened with a decline in the morning but during the day Sensex rose by 870 points and Nifty rose by 235 points. But before the end of the trading, sharp profit booking again returned in the market and Sensex fell from the day’s high to 1835 and Nifty fell by 520 points. This decline in the market has occurred due to selling in FMCG, banking and energy stocks. At the end of trading, Sensex closed at 81,688 points with a fall of 808 points and Nifty of National Stock Exchange closed at 25049 points with a fall of 200 points.

Investors lost Rs 3.70 lakh crore

Even today, investors have to face huge losses due to selling in the market. The market cap of stocks listed on BSE has fallen and closed at Rs 461.05 lakh crore, which had closed at Rs 465.05 lakh crore in the previous session. That means investors have suffered a loss of Rs 3.70 lakh crore in today’s session. This week the market cap of the Indian stock market has declined by Rs 17 lakh crore.

Of the total 4054 shares traded on BSE, 1532 shares closed with gains and 2386 shares closed with losses. Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 8 closed with gains while 22 closed with losses. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 13 closed with gains and 37 with losses. Among the rising stocks, Infosys closed with a rise of 1.33 per cent, Tech Mahindra 0.83 per cent, Tata Motors 0.51 per cent, Axis Bank 0.50 per cent, TCS 0.42 per cent, SBI 0.28 per cent, HCL Tech 0.27 per cent. Among the falling stocks, Mahindra & Mahindra closed with a fall of 3.58 percent, Bajaj Finance with a fall of 3.01 percent, Nestle with a fall of 2.85 percent, Asian Paints with a fall of 2.49 percent.

In today’s business, except IT stocks, there has been a decline in the shares of all other sectors. Shares of Banking, Auto, FMCG, Pharma, Metals, Energy, Healthcare, Media, Real Estate, Consumer Durables sectors closed with a decline. A decline has been seen in midcap and smallcap shares even today.
