NDA Passing Out Parade: The 143rd Passing Out Parade of the National Defense Academy (NDA) was organized in Pune on Wednesday (30 November). Meanwhile, Navy Chief Admiral R.K. Hari Kumar (Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar) was also present. During this, the Navy Chief congratulated the cadets and wished them a bright future.
Also, while addressing the cadets, he said that today is a world in which the security scenario has become complex with the advent of advanced technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and autonomous platforms. A world in which you will need to negotiate threats beyond the traditional boundaries of land, sea and air to include space, cyberspace and the cognitive domain.
The Navy Chief told the cadets that the moment you step out of this military academy, you will face an amorphous world that is no longer defined by simple definitions of war and peace. A world in which the threat of traditional war still exists.

The passing out parade of the 143rd course of NDA was organized in Khadakwasla, Pune on Wednesday. This parade of NDA takes place at Khetrapal Maidan. The ground is named after Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, who died in the Battle of Basantar in the battlefield of Shakargarh during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. All three present Army Chiefs Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary, Navy Chief Admiral Hari Kumar and Army Chief General Manoj Pandey are from the 61st course of the Academy. Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan is also an alumnus of the Academy.
The passing out parade of the NDA comes out of the military academy after three years of long and hard training. After passing out from the NDA, the cadets proceed for another year of pre-commissioning training at their respective armed forces academies. Let us tell you that there is Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala located in Kannur district of Kerala. There is a military academy for the Indian Army in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. At the same time, there is an Air Force Academy in Dundigal located in Telangana for the Air Force.
This is how the passing out parade of NDA happens
The parade begins with the parade ground taking its place. After this, marching to the tunes of NDA’s song Hum NDA Ke Cadet Hain, the rest of the troops come out from the quartermaster’s fort gate. The Deputy Commandant and Commandant of the Academy are followed by the Army Commander of Headquarters Pune Southern Command. Thereafter, the Reviewing Officer (RO) – who this time is Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar – arrives in a ceremonial buggy. The arrival of RO is marked by the first flypast of the parade, which consists of helicopters. The parade consists of impressive flypasts by helicopters, trainer aircraft and fighter jets, including the Sukhoi-30 MKI, the frontline fighter jet of the Indian Air Force.
The cadets then step forward to the marshal’s tune and salute the RO as each troop passes the podium. The RO then puts on medals on the medal winning cadets of the Academy and also felicitates the Campion Squadron. The RO then parades and addresses the attendees. This is followed by the emotional culmination of three years of rigorous training at the academy for the passing out cadets in the final phase of the parade, following all protocols. The Junior Cadets participating in the parade return to the Quartermaster Fort. Passing out cadets march past the final stage on the quarterdeck flag mast of the Khetrapal Ground, accompanied by a military band playing the melodious tunes of Old Lang Syne.
