Lok Sabha Election 2024: These days Lok Sabha elections are going on in the country. Lok Sabha Elections Voting for the second phase will be held on Friday (April 26). However, along with the elections, the heat in the country is also increasing. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding severe heat on the day of voting on 26th April.
According to the report of the English newspaper ‘The Hindu’, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heat wave in many states of the country during the next five days from April 25. People may have to face severe heat in parts of West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Red alert has been issued for West Bengal-Orissa and orange alert has been issued for Bihar and Karnataka.

The Meteorological Department said, “People may have to face problems due to scorching heat in Tripura, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Assam, Meghalaya and Goa.” However, light rain with strong winds is expected in some parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on April 26.
Be alert in red and orange alert areas
IMD said that there is a heat wave situation in Odisha since April 15 and in West Bengal since April 17. IMD said, “Heat wave conditions will persist in Odisha from April 27 to 29.” In areas where red alert has been issued, people may suffer heatstroke due to the heat. Also, in Orange Alert areas, people who work in the sun all day can fall ill due to heat.
IMD had already warned
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert had already been issued regarding heat wave. There is a possibility of heat wave lasting four to eight days in different parts of the country in April. Whereas in some places heat wave conditions will persist for between one to three days. The states which had warned of heatwave include Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Bihar and Jharkhand.
Voting will take place in these states
On Friday, all 20 seats of Kerala, 14 of Karnataka, 13 of Rajasthan, eight each of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, seven of Madhya Pradesh, five each of Bihar and Assam, three each of Chhattisgarh and West Bengal and Tripura, Manipur Voting will be held on one seat each in Jammu and Kashmir.
