Delhi-NCR Air Pollution Case: The Supreme Court has shown strictness regarding the problem of increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR and has issued some guidelines. The court has ordered closure of classes 10th and 12th in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) due to deteriorating air quality. Also the Central Government has been asked to consider work from home.
Regarding work from home, the court asked whether work with 50% staff in government and private offices was considered? On this the Delhi lawyer said that it is being considered, then the court said that the problem is that you delay in everything. The court stressed the need for all educational institutions to switch to online classes as a precautionary measure against dangerous air pollution levels. According to the new order of the court, now all classes will continue online for the welfare of the students.
What restrictions did the court impose?
Senior lawyer Shankaranarayan said that schools should be closed. This will make people understand the seriousness. Work should be done online in the court also. The court questioned the Delhi government and the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) over the delay in implementing pollution prevention measures under the GRAP phases. Supreme Court asked Delhi-NCR to immediately form teams to implement GRAP 4 restrictions. The court said that these restrictions will remain effective even if AQI is less than 450.
