SC refuses to hear against the violence on Ram Navami, what did the court say?

SC On Ram Navami Violence: The Supreme Court refused to hear the petition against the violence in several states of the country during Ram Navami. The Supreme Court said that the matter of every state should have been kept in the High Court there. After this, the petitioner ‘Hindu Front for Justice’ withdrew the petition.

The state governments of West Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Telangana were made parties in this petition filed in the Supreme Court. In all these states, there were incidents of violence during the Ram Navami procession.

What was the demand in the petition?
The petition demanded that the Supreme Court take a report on the matter from the states. The state governments should be instructed to take strict action against the rioters. The victims of the violence should get compensation and the damage done to the property should be recovered from the rioters.

It was also cited in the petition that the administration does not allow processions in many areas by telling them that they are Muslim-dominated. Even if the Yatra starts after getting the permission, then stones are pelted there. The petitioner had sought a direction to the states not to prevent the Hindu community from taking out processions by calling any area a Muslim-majority area.

A bench of Supreme Court Justices Sanjiv Khanna and MM Sundaresh refused to hear the arguments of advocate Vishnu Jain, appearing for the petitioner. The judges said that the case of every state should be kept in the High Court there. Seeing the stand of the court, Jain withdrew the petition.
