New Delhi: Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s latest film ‘Shaakuntalam’ bombed at the box office. The period-romantic film mounted on a budget of Rs. 80 crores did not impress audiences at all. Soon after the film’s performance, a Telugu producer had commented that Samantha’s career was over after ‘Shaakuntalam’s release. Producer Chittibabu claimed ‘as the heroine is finished and she cannot get back to stardom again’ after the film’s performance. Now, it seems that Samantha has responded to the filmmaker’s remark through her Instagram stories by taking a hilarious jibe at him.
In a now expired Instagram Stories, Samnatha had shared a post which showed her searching ‘How do people have hair growing from ears’ on Google. The search engine showed the result, “Some people get more hair in and on their ears as they age–especially men. Doctors think it may be because of increased testosterone. This hormone makes their hair coarser and thicker as it grays. The hair just inside your ear works with earwax to keep dirt and debris away from your eardrum.”
Earlier, in an interview with Filmy Looks, Chittibabu slammed Samantha claiming that her ‘star heroine’ career was over and that she was resorting to ‘cheap tactics’ to promote her films. “Samantha did Oo Antava item song in Pushpa The Rise after her divorce. She did it for her livelihood. After losing the status of a star heroine, she is doing whatever offers she is getting. Her career as the heroine is finished and she cannot get back to stardom again. She should continue her journey doing the offers she gets,” he was quoted as saying by Siasit.com.
“Every time sentiment will not work. If the role and film is good, people will watch. All these are cheap and insane acts. I wonder how Samantha, who lost her heroine status, is suited for the role of Shakuntala. I do not have any interest in Shakuntalam,” he had added.
Meanwhile, ‘Shaakuntalam’ which released on April 14 did not do decent business at the box office. The film allegedly incurred a loss of Rs. 20 crores. As per a Telugucinema.com report, ‘Shaakuntalam’ was sold to a streaming giant for Rs. 35 crores. The report also claimed that the producer Dil Raju demanded Rs. 15 crores from satellite companies for television streaming rights however, the deal did not materialize. This led to Shakuntalam’s producers losing more than Rs. 20 crores.
