Ruckus over Waqf amendment! Minority Ministry presented report in the 28th meeting of JPC


Waqf Bill Amendment: Today, the 28th meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed on the Waqf Amendment Bill was concluded in Parliament House, Delhi. In this meeting, the officials of the Minority Ministry presented their report in response to the questions asked by the committee members. The main objective of the meeting was to work towards resolving the various questions raised regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. Committee chairperson Jagdambika Pal said after the meeting that complaints are coming from many more institutions and states which will be studied and resolved in the next phase.

In the meeting, officials of the Minority Ministry presented a detailed report of 887 pages to the committee. Apart from this, a 200 page reply was also given on 44 amendments. This report was based on the proposed amendments under the Waqf Amendment Bill and their impact. The Chairman of the Committee said that this meeting was organized after the extension of the tenure of the JPC and the information given in it and the answers to the questions were important. He also informed that the next meeting will be held on December 11 in which the complaints received from the state governments will be discussed.

Special attention to the complaints of the states

Jagdambika Pal said that in the upcoming meeting the states from which complaints have been received will be thoroughly investigated. This investigation will be especially related to those properties on which complaints have been received. He said that the committee will work to solve the problems of each state keeping in mind its cases. In this process, it will be ensured that every state gets a fair hearing and any type of complaint is resolved in a transparent manner.
