Delhi News: Aam Aadmi Party councilors cornered BJP over Amit Shah’s statement on Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) House on Thursday (19 December). They raised slogans against the Union Minister. He also accused BJP of weakening Ambedkar’s legacy.
Earlier, opposition councilors demonstrated accusing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of giving shelter to Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators. Mayor Mahesh Khinchi did not reach the House till 3 pm, due to which the session which was supposed to start at 2 pm could not begin yet, due to which the tension increased further.

Councilors of BJP and Congress came near the seat in the House and climbed on the benches. In their hands were placards with slogans written against the Aam Aadmi Party. The placards held by the opposition councilors read, “Illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators are your friends.” Apart from this, slogans like ‘Mayor Saheb come on time’ and ‘It will not work, this House will not work’ were echoing in the House. The opposition councilors criticized the Mayor’s absence and demanded an apology from him before starting the House proceedings.

In response, Aam Aadmi Party councilors also raised slogans like ‘We will not tolerate insult to Baba Saheb’ and ‘Jai Bhim’, targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement in Parliament on Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Members of the ruling party accused BJP of weakening Ambedkar’s legacy.
