Rs 72.37 lakh recovered from Atiq Ahmed’s office, weapons also seized


Umesh Pal Case Update: Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma held a press conference regarding the raid on Atiq Ahmed’s office in the Umesh Pal shootout in Prayagraj. The commissioner said that the police have arrested five accused from Jairampur in Dhumanganj area.

The arrested accused include Niyaz Ahmed, Mohd Sajar, Cash Ahmed, Rakesh Kumar and Arshad Katra alias Arshad Khan. The police commissioner informed that on the pointers of two accused Cash Ahmed and Rakesh Kumar, the office of Atiq Ahmed in Chakia was raided.

72 lakh 37 thousand rupees have been recovered from Atiq Ahmed’s office in the raid. At the same time, six mobiles and 2 lakh 25 thousand were recovered from the five accused. In this way, the police has recovered a total of 74 lakh 62 thousand. At the same time, a total of 10 weapons have been recovered from Atiq’s office, which include pistol and country-made pistol. It has five pistols and five country-made pistols and one magazine and 112 cartridges of different bore have been recovered.

Third accused Arshad Katra alias Arshad Khan

At the same time, the third accused Arshad Katra alias Arshad Khan was involved in the conspiracy of the shootout. Arshad used to be present in the meetings held at Atiq’s house. Whereas, the fourth accused Cash Ahmed was the driver of Atiq’s family for more than 16 years. After the Umesh Pal shootout, Cash Ahmed had hidden the weapon and cash.

Police is making detailed inquiries from the cash

On the instructions of Atiq, Ashraf, Shaista and Asad, Cash Ahmed used to work related to the incident. Police is making detailed inquiries from the cash. Whereas, the fifth accused Rakesh Kumar is a resident of Kaushambi. Rakesh alias Nakesh Kumar alias Lala was working as a scribe at Ateeq’s house for 16 years. Rakesh also played an important role in hiding the weapons and cash.

The commissioner did not say anything about the weapons

The police are interrogating the accused and are busy in further disclosure of the case. According to the police commissioner, Ateeq Ahmed, lodged in Sabarmati Jail, Ateeq’s brother Ashraf, wife Shaista Parveen and son Asad, lodged in Bareilly Jail were involved in the conspiracy of Umesh Pal shootout. The money was to be distributed to the shooters after the incident

According to sources, the money recovered from Atiq’s office was to be distributed among the shooters and others after the incident. There is also a possibility that the weapons recovered from Atiq’s office were used in the Umesh Pal shootout case. After the statement of the Police Commissioner, it has become clear that most of his family members or employees along with Atiq were directly or conspired in this incident.

Jailed Atiq and Ashraf used to attend the meetings of the conspiracy virtually. The curtain is slowly being lifted from the suspense of the shootout. Before the 5 arrests on Tuesday, an accused named Sadakat Khan was arrested on 27 February.
