Rohit Sharma unavailable BGT 2024: In the months of November and December, the Indian team has to tour Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But even before that, Team India may face a big blow because there is speculation that Rohit Sharma may miss the first 2 matches of the series. India-Australia The five-match Test series will start from November 22, which will be very important from the point of view of the World Test Championship final (WTC Final 2025).
Now a BCCI source quoted by PTI said, “There is no clarity on this situation yet. It has been learned that Rohit has contacted BCCI officials that due to personal reasons he will not be able to miss the first two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.” If these possible personal problems are resolved before the start of the series, Rohit may be available for all 5 matches. More information will be revealed in the coming days.
Who can replace Rohit Sharma?
If Rohit Sharma is out of the first 2 matches, he can be replaced by Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was the captain of India B in Duleep Trophy 2024. Easwaran’s name came up because he would be in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, captaining India A in a series. Easwaran is running in great rhythm. He played 2 century innings in Duleep Trophy and in the recently held Irani Cup 2024 match Mumbai vs Rest of India, he also created a sensation by playing a century inning of 191 runs.
On the other hand, as far as captaincy is concerned, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah can take charge of the team. Well, the situation will become clear only when BCCI or Rohit Sharma himself comes forward and announces something on this subject.
