Kerala High Court: The Kerala High Court has pulled up the government for imposing curfew for girls studying in Kozhikode Medical College. The court sought information from the administration as to why restrictions are imposed on girls while ‘men… create more trouble’.
According to a report on Live Law website, Justice Devan Ramachandran said, “Lock up the men. I am saying this because they create more trouble. After 8 pm, impose curfew on men and girls should not go out.” Give it up. Patriarchy of any kind has been rejected in this modern time. Girls are just as capable as boys to take care of themselves. If security is needed, take the help of state and authorities instead of imposing curfew.”

On this claim of the government, the High Court said, the duty of the government is to ensure a safe campus for all the students, not to lock the girls in a circle. The High Court has asked the state government to give a concrete reason for imposing the curfew. The court says that the notice which prevents girls from leaving the campus after 9.30 pm… why should it be allowed?
