Rehabilitation policy approved for children living on the streets in Jammu and Kashmir, know what is the purpose?


Jammu and Kashmir News: The rehabilitation policy for the children living on the streets in Jammu and Kashmir has been approved. The Rehabilitation Policy (CISSS) was approved in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council meeting. The meeting was presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The purpose of adopting the resettlement policy is to protect children from various dangers. Officials said on Tuesday that as per the principles of the Juvenile Justice Act, street children fall under the category of children in need of care and protection.

Rehabilitation policy approved for street children

The Act empowers the government to frame a policy for the rehabilitation of such distressed children. Earlier, Social Welfare Department through MD, ICPS (now Mission Vatsalya) launched a campaign to identify such CISSS and so far 687 children have been identified. As per the policy, the Departments of Health, School Education, H&UDD, RDD, Home, Labor and Employment have been assigned specific roles and responsibilities to ensure proper implementation of the policy.

A committee headed by the Chief Secretary will work to review the implementation in the Union Territory. Regular monitoring of the implementation of the policy will be the responsibility of the Social Welfare Department to safeguard the future of all such children in Jammu and Kashmir. Sinha has invited suggestions for G20 events to be held in Jammu and Kashmir. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday spoke on the G20 programs ‘Meri Sarkar Jammu-Kashmir’ to be organized in Jammu and Kashmir through the monthly radio program ‘Awam Ki Awaz’. He has sought suggestions and ideas from the citizens of the state. A WhatsApp number has also been issued for sending ideas and suggestions.
