The incident took place on October 20, 2018 at Galleria Cinema in Bhangagarh, Guwahati. The complaint before the Consumer Forum was accepted after five months. The complainant alleged that during the screening of the film, he realized that his feet were bleeding. After which he was kept under observation for two hours, because it was not known who had bitten him at that time. After which the woman had to face many problems.
6 lakh compensation was sought
The woman had sought compensation of Rs 6 lakh from the owner of the cinema hall. The movie hall owner argued that the complaint was not meritorious and the woman was also treated at that time. Opposing this, the woman said that when she went to the owner of the cinema hall about this, he offered her free tickets for her next film.
The court said in this case that there is negligence of the cinema hall in this incident. Also directed that the compensation of Rs 67,000 be paid within 45 days. The court said that if the payment is made after 45 days, then till the payment of the amount, interest at the rate of 12 percent per annum will have to be paid.
