Rahul Gandhi Karnataka Visit: Rahul Gandhi on Sunday (April 16) expressed confidence that the Congress would return to power in Karnataka in the assembly elections to be held on May 10. He appealed to the party leaders to ensure victory of more than 150 seats, while also asking the state unit of the party to be careful with the BJP.

In Bangalore, Rahul bought Nandini brand ice cream and described this brand as the ‘pride of Karnataka’. He also described Nandini, the flagship brand of the Karnataka Milk Federation, as the ‘best’. Amid apprehensions of a takeover of this brand by Amul of Gujarat, the Congress leader has taken this step in view of party leaders in the state strongly supporting the domestic dairy brand.
Rahul said this to Congress leaders
In his address here, Rahul said that there is a strong internal wave in favor of the party in Karnataka. He appealed to the Congress leaders to ensure that the party wins at least 150 seats. He said that it is the duty of the people of the party to protect the idea of India from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP amid hatred, violence and attacks on the institutions of the country.
After inaugurating the Indira Gandhi Bhavan, Rahul said, “Most of us know what the BJP is doing to the country in terms of hatred and violence, attacks on institutions.” These are such things which are visible to all.
‘I believe the party…’
Talking about his party’s prospects in the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka, he said, “Right now we are fighting the Karnataka elections and I am very happy to see that there is a very strong wave in favor of the Congress.” Said, “I am confident that the party is going to win the election.”
‘They will try to steal the next government too’
Rahul hinted that close contests would not be enough in this election and urged the state leaders to ensure that the party wins at least 150 of the total 224 assembly seats. He said, “We have to win the elections on 150 seats because the BJP is a corrupt organization. BJP has a huge amount of money which it has stolen from the people of Karnataka and they (BJP) will try to steal the next government as well.”
Rahul lashed out at Bommai government, said this about Adani-PM Modi
Describing the BJP government headed by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai as one of the most corrupt governments, Rahul said that this government has the stamp of ’40 percent government’. In Kolar, he attacked Adani and the Prime Minister and sought to know PM Modi’s ‘relationship’ with the industrialist. Rahul said, “I am the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi What is your relation with Adani who is being given airports in India. The rules were changed to give them contracts. Have the rules changed?
He said that he has raised the issue of Rs 20,000 crore related to Adani’s shell companies and questioned where this money went. He said, “If you help Adani from the heart, we (Congress) will help the poor, unemployed youth and women from the heart.”
‘I’m not afraid’
Rahul asked whether the Prime Minister would make the 2011 caste-wise census data public and also demanded removal of the 50 per cent cap on reservation. Rahul told the people present in the program called ‘Jai Bharat’, “I have been disqualified from the membership of Parliament. They (central government) think that they will scare me by removing me and threatening me. I am not one to fear.” He said, “I will keep asking this question until I get an answer. You disqualify me, put me in jail or do whatever you want, I am not afraid.
