Rahul Gandhi’s statement on PM Modi in America was unnecessary

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is currently on a six-day tour of America. While addressing the people of Indian origin there, he took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After which there is a huge controversy on this. He said that there are some people in the country who think they know everything. Knows more than even God. If they are made to sit with God, they will start explaining to God how the universe works.

Actually, first we should think that there are two aspects of power – the side and the opposition. It is the job of the opposition that whether the Prime Minister of the country is Modi or anyone else, they should present their views about them and do whatever they want to criticize. The first thing is that it should not be given much importance because when BJP leaders go out, they also do it and Rahul Gandhi is also doing it. That’s why one of the criteria of democracy is that decency should not be violated under any circumstances.

Unnecessary weightage to Rahul’s statement

Those who do politics, they should express their views with decency. You can protest about it, but it doesn’t need much attention. There is no need for whatever BJP is doing regarding Rahul’s statement. Because it is the job of all political parties to protest. To point out what they think.

There is no reason for BJP to be more worried about whatever Rahul Gandhi has said about Bharat Jodo Yatra, because it keeps happening in a democracy. Secondly, whatever Rahul Gandhi is saying about India in America, he is also speaking with the people of Indian origin. All of them are NRIs and their relatives must also be in India. That’s why I would say that this is an overreaction of BJP on Rahul’s statement.

Why did BJP create the issue?

Actually, the Bharatiya Janata Party is upset after the defeat in the Karnataka assembly elections. Congress performed brilliantly there. Also, opposition unity was not visible in 2014 and 2019 elections, but in 2024, opposition unity is visible. That’s why a good thing for democracy is that the opposition can fight by having a common minimum program of its own. I think democracy should mean that you answer the issues raised by the opposition.

It is not that Rahul Gandhi raises the issues of the country only by going abroad. He has been speaking on such issues even while staying inside the country. Did he also get the correct answer? There must be a standard of our democracy. Things are getting one sided. One thing that happens is that the opposition should keep its words in front of the people. One is that there should be a presidential debate, as it happens in foreign countries. The second is that there should be a press conference. But it seems that we are moving away from these things, which have to be brought.

If anyone raises questions about the condition of our country, inflation, then I think the government should answer them.

More impact on speaking abroad?

It is not that if a politician makes a statement abroad, it has more impact. Those who are abroad, their link in India is emotional. If India progresses, then those who are outside will also feel good and the country will also be proud. In this situation, we should think that how far things have progressed from where they were earlier. Also, how much development have we done in the field of education and health. There should be a debate on all these. I think the issues should be discussed. Leaving aside who did or did not do all these issues, it would be better to think about the issues that have arisen.
