The Indian squad has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for this series. Test star batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has not been included in this team. At the same time, it has been told in media reports that Pujara will be seen playing in Duleep Trophy 2023 starting from 28 June.

Recently, Pujara was made a part of Team India in the final match of the World Test Championship played against Australia, but he disappointed with the bat. In the first innings of the match, Pujara scored 14 runs in 25 balls and 27 runs in 47 balls in the second innings. In view of this poor performance of Pujara, he has been dropped from the Indian Test team on the West Indies tour.

According to a report in ‘Times of India’, Pujara will play for North Zone in the Duleep Trophy starting June 28. A reliable source told The Times of India, “The selectors and the coach (Rahul Dravid) wanted to try youngsters like Jaiswal and Gaikwad, which is why Pujara has not been picked for this tour. If he scores runs in domestic cricket, the doors are not closed for him, he has been told.”

Batting in 176 innings of these matches, he scored 7195 runs at an average of 43.61. During this, he has scored 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries with his bat including 3 double centuries.
