President Draupadi Murmu attended the third and fourth convocation ceremonies of the institute as the chief guest. He awarded gold medals to talented students of various engineering branches. IIT Bhilai, in collaboration with AIIMS Raipur, has created mobile phone apps in the health care sector, through which village people can get medical help at home.

This institute has also provided solutions to the farmers by collaborating with Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur. Which provides them guidance and assistance to utilize their resources properly. It is commendable that 6 lakh farmers are using the mobile application named Crop Doctor. This institute is promoting socially relevant research. National security and defense related projects are also being run here. Along with this, research is also being done on minor forest produce like Mahua.

IIT Bhilai is moving forward with an inclusive thinking. Here quality education is being provided to the youth of deprived and backward classes. This institute has also taken steps to increase the number and participation of girl students. IIT students have made a special identity in the field of science and technology at the global level. The Government of India has established 23 IITs across the country to provide technical higher education to the youth.

Governor Ramen Deka congratulated on this historic occasion of the third and fourth joint convocation of IIT Bhilai. He said that it is a matter of honor that the President registered his presence at this function today. The Governor said that the establishment of IIT Bhilai in Chhattisgarh in the year 2016 filled the long standing gap in the technical higher education sector of the state. Several MoUs have been signed between departments, agencies of the Government of Chhattisgarh and IIT Bhilai. Some of the projects relate to revitalization of rivers, capacity building of district administration and preserving the intangible heritage of the state. Congratulating all the students, teachers and employees of the institute, he said that they will achieve achievements for the state and the nation in future. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that it is a matter of pride for all of us that the President will attend the third and fourth joint convocation of IIT Bhilai, the glorious educational institution of Chhattisgarh. In Chhattisgarh, when Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation of a glorious institute like IIT Bhilai, he also laid the foundation of the golden future of this state. The Chief Minister said that the present time is of technology. The country and state which has the strength of technology will develop faster. Today India is moving towards becoming the third largest economy in the world.

We are moving forward with the resolve to build a developed India and developed Chhattisgarh. The goals cannot be achieved without technology. We are fortunate that the state has excellent institutes like Triple IT, NIT along with IIT Bhilai. These institutions are creating an energetic young generation equipped with technology who is going to play an important role in the economic development of the country and the state. IIT Bhilai is working closely with the government to set up a state-of-the-art IT park in the state. This will be the first IT park of this state. This will open up opportunities for the youth in the fields of information technology as well as smart manufacturing, transportation, agritech and healthtech.

Similarly, IIT Bhilai is working with the government to establish a learning review center in Chhattisgarh. This center will create an AI based centralized command and control center for the schools of Chhattisgarh. This will provide information regarding the performance of schools, infrastructure and number of students etc. Apart from this, it will also help in taking accurate decisions regarding formulation of policies and distribution of resources.
