Preparations completed for the elections to be held in Nepal on November 20, security arrangements made


Nepal Elections 2022: Elections are to be held on November 20 for 275 members of the federal parliament and 550 seats in seven provincial assemblies in Nepal. Earlier, Nepal’s Election Commission announced a series of measures, including beefed up security at polling stations, aerial patrolling and closure of the Nepal-India border, to ensure “free, fair and peaceful” voting for Sunday’s general election. Could Voting for the parliamentary and provincial assemblies in Nepal will be held in a single phase on November 20. More than 1 crore 79 lakh people are eligible to vote in seven provinces of the country.

Out of the total 275 members of the Parliament, 165 will be elected through direct voting, while the remaining 110 will be elected through the proportional method. Similarly, out of the total 550 members of the provincial assembly, 330 will be elected through direct voting while 220 will be elected through the proportional method.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapliya told the media, “All preparations have been completed for the elections to be held on November 20.” Polling officers, junior staff and security personnel have reached all the polling stations. Security arrangements will be activated as per the need and security personnel have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.”

The CEC said, now we are waiting for the voters to come to the polling stations on November 20 to cast their votes. The election process will be conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
