Security Conference 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Interacted with senior officials of the country’s police and intelligence agencies on the second day of the annual security conference in Bhubaneswar on Saturday (November 30). In this confidential meeting, various national security issues were discussed in detail.
In the meeting, several issues like hostile forces using technology to hamper India’s development, cross-border terrorism, smuggling, internal radicalization and left-wing extremism were discussed in depth. The officials also informed the Prime Minister about the progress of the decisions taken in the previous meetings. PM Modi gave his suggestions on these topics which all the states, union territories and central agencies will be asked to implement in the next one year.
PM Modi laid emphasis on making policing modern and world class
The Prime Minister said that it is necessary to make the police departments modern and world class in line with India’s growing global reputation. He stressed, “Instead of working in silos, police departments should share information and databases among themselves so that crime and criminals can be controlled.”
Earlier Home Minister Amit Shah Stressed the need to pay special attention to illegal migration and other illegal activities along the eastern borders, including the borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh.
Discussion on urban policing and digital threats
The challenges of “urban policing” were also discussed in the conference. In this, incidents like disruption of school-college and air services due to threats on digital platforms, criminals impersonating law enforcement officers and making “digital arrests” were analysed.
Along with this, terrorism and its support system was also discussed. The status of implementation of the new criminal laws, Indian Judicial Code, Indian Civil Defense Code and Indian Evidence Act was also discussed.
PM Modi has been participating in the conference for 11 years
The Prime Minister has participated in every security conference in the last 11 years and has developed it as an important forum in shaping national security policies. Since 2014, this conference has become a platform for brainstorming on issues like extremism, radicalization of youth, cyber crime and modernization of security infrastructure.
Participation of more than 200 senior officers in the conference
According to the information, this year’s conference took place in the presence of more than 200 senior police and central forces officers. Let us tell you that many officers also joined online in this conference held in Bhubaneswar. The event was organized by the Indian Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Prime Minister described it as “productive”. PM described it on his social media as an important step towards strengthening India’s internal security.
