Actually, Jogi family has a special status in Bastar. The historic world famous Bastar Dussehra festival cannot be completed without them, but this Jogi family is not a society. Rather, it was just a post given by the royal family at that time, but during the British rule, due to the negligence of the British officials, their caste identity changed and now the name found in the post, Jogi, remained their caste, this new identity gave them According to information received around 1913, there are around 800 people of this family in Bastar.
The installation of Kalash in the temple is called Jogi Bithai in Bastar Dussehra. According to tradition, a young man from the Jogi family, resident of Amabal village, sits on waterless fast for 9 days of Navratri in the posture of yoga every year at a certain place located in Sirhasar Bhawan of Jagdalpur city. The main objective of this penance is to make the Dussehra festival peaceful and uninterrupted. This tradition has been going on for hundreds of years and only the people of Jogi family have been following this tradition.
Jogi family does not get the benefit of reservation
Raghunath Nag, a member of the Jogi family, says that because of writing Jogi, he is not able to get the benefit of reservation in the tribal category, nor has he been included in the Scheduled Tribe. Because of this, despite being tribal, they are not able to avail the benefits of reservation, due to which they are facing many problems.
