PM Modi in Brazil: The G-20 summit is going on in Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil. On Monday (18 November), the first day of this conference, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral meetings with the leaders of many countries. PM Modi held talks on bilateral issues with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, British PM Keir Starmer, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Portuguese PM Luis Montenegro and Norwegian Prime Minister Jona Garr Store. Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi discussed the crisis of food, electricity and fertilizer in the world in the conference.
What did PM Modi say in the summit,
Prime Minister in the first two sessions of the G-20 summit Narendra Modi joined in. In these two sessions, PM Modi gave his suggestions regarding ‘solidarity against hunger and poverty’ and ‘improving the functioning of governments’. Apart from this, he also had an important discussion regarding the Global South.
What did Modi say on solidarity against hunger and poverty?
The theme of the first session of the G-20 conference was ‘Solidarity against hunger and poverty’. While addressing, PM Modi first congratulated the President of Brazil for the successful organization of G-20. He said that Brazil has taken forward the decisions taken during the New Delhi Summit under its chairmanship.
PM Modi said in his address, “India has brought 25 crore people out of poverty in 10 years. We are giving free food grains to 80 crore people. 55 crore people are taking advantage of free health insurance. Assistance of 20 billion dollars has been given to farmers. Along with this, India is contributing to global food security. Recently, India has also provided assistance to Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Apart from this, PM Modi also discussed the relevance of ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future’ in his address. At the same time, he included African Union in G20 and said that similar reforms will be done in other administrative institutions. Whereas regarding the ongoing war in different parts of the world, he said, ‘Due to war, a crisis of food, oil and fertilizer has arisen in the world and it has had the biggest impact on the countries of the Global South. He said that the G-20 discussions will be successful only when we keep in mind the challenges and priorities of the Global South.
