India is going to host the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) from July 4 onwards. The special thing is that this time the summit will be organized in a digital way. The Ministry of External Affairs announced on Tuesday to organize the conference digitally. Although the reason for this has not been given. The Ministry of External Affairs said, “India has established new pillars of cooperation under its chairmanship – startups and innovation, traditional medicine, digital inclusion, youth empowerment and shared Buddhist heritage.
Putin and Xi Jinping were invited
Officials said that considering various aspects, the option of holding the summit digitally was discussed and a final decision was taken in this regard after consulting the member countries. Last year, the SCO summit was held in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand city which was attended by all the top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. India will host the G20 summit in September for which it is inviting Xi Jinping and Putin. India took over the presidency of the SCO at the Samarkand summit on September 16 last year. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “For the first time, the 22nd SCO Summit under the presidency of India will be held digitally on July 4 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

India hosted the foreign ministers of the SCO for a two-day conference in Goa this month. The Ministry of External Affairs said that all the member states of the SCO – China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – have been invited to participate in the summit. He said, “Iran, Belarus and Mongolia have been invited as observer countries. As per the tradition of the SCO, Turkmenistan has been invited as the guest of honor. These organizations include the United Nations, ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization), EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) and CICA (Summit on Partnership and Confidence Building Measures in Asia ) Are included.
