According to Delhi Police, in the year 2023, the number of dark spots in Delhi where 10 or more accidents have occurred in a year has increased. According to Delhi Police, earlier the dark spots included ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Mukarba Chowk, Libaspur Bus Stand, Kashmiri Gate Chowk, Burari Chowk, Britannia Chowk, Bhalswa Chowk, Wazirpur Depot, Mori Gate and Gandhi Vihar Bus Stand.

After the survey in the year 2023, NH8, Road No. 56, Kanjhawala Road, NH 24, Road No. 201, Patel Road, Pankha Road, Vikas Marg and Narela Road also joined these dark spots. Deaths due to road accidents have decreased due to increase in the number of traffic challans.

How many challans in 2022?
According to Delhi Traffic Police, the traffic police has been continuously taking steps to improve road accidents. In the year 2022, where the total number of challans was 438052. The number of these challans increased to 639097 in the year 2023. According to Delhi Police, this is the reason that despite the increasing traffic on the roads of the capital Delhi, the number of people who died in road accidents in the year 2023 was 1257, which was 1262 in the year 2022.

There has been a reduction of about 20% in accidents.
According to Delhi Police, there has been a decline of about 20% in road accidents on Delhi roads in the last 10 years. The biggest victims of road accidents are pedestrians and two-wheelers. Of the accidents that occurred in 2023, 43% were pedestrians on the road and 38% were two-wheeler accidents.
