Mahakumbh Stampede: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the stampede in Prayagraj Mahakumbh. The petitioner has demanded that he sought a status report from the UP government in this matter and also instructs the responsible officials to take legal action.
In Mahakumbh, there was a stampede just before the second royal bath on Mauni Amavasya. 30 people were killed in it. In many reports, the death toll is also being told more than 40. After this accident, the administration has raised questions on the mob management system. Along with this, things are also coming out of lack of basic facilities.
What are the demands in the PIL?
In this petition, Advocate Vishal Tiwari has demanded the Supreme Court to make all the states his facility center in Prayagraj and to give basic information about security measures and guidelines to pilgrims on them. The petition has also demanded to arrange announcements in other languages in Mahakumbh, display boards showing direction, roads etc. so that people of other states do not have to face trouble and can help them easily.
It has also been written in the petition that with the coordination of the Uttar Pradesh government, all the state governments should also deploy their small medical team with doctors and nurses in Prayagraj Mahakumbh so that there is no shortage of medical staff during medical emergency.
The petitioner has also spoken about administrative negligence in this stampede. In this, the Supreme Court has been requested that the Uttar Pradesh government should be directed to submit a status report on the Mahakumbh 2025 stampede incident on January 29, 2025 and at the same time instructions to initiate legal action against the officers responsible for careless conduct.
