Andhra Pradesh News: In Tuni town of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, a monk arrived early in the morning at the house of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Polnati Seshagiri Rao for alms. As soon as Rao started begging the person who arrived in the guise of a monk, he suddenly took out a dagger and fatally attacked Seshagiri Rao. Rao narrowly escaped in this attack. After the attack, the monk ran away and Rao, who was injured in the incident, has been admitted to the hospital.
The CCTV footage shows the TDP leader being offered some food grains at the entrance of his house, when the man takes out his sickle and attacks Rao. The accused is seen running away after injuring the minister. Just then a woman comes out of the house and runs after him making noise.
Police officials said that Rao sustained injuries on his head and hand in the attack. He said that he has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Kakinada Superintendent of Police M Ravindranath Babu said the accused fled with his accomplice, who was waiting outside the house on a motorcycle. Babu said, “Four police teams have been formed to find them.” Police is trying to identify the attacker on the basis of CCTV footage. According to sources, a case has been registered under section 307 (intent to kill) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Telugu Desam Party has blamed the supporters of Roads and Buildings Minister Dadisetty Raja for the attack on its leader Seshagiri Rao. The president of the Andhra Pradesh unit of the party, K. Atchannaidu has condemned the attack on Rao and said that the ministers and MLAs are following in the footsteps of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The TDP leader said Rao was attacked for raising his voice against the injustice of the government. Atchannaidu said that his party will not rest until the accused and the conspirators of the murder are caught.
