Pakistan invites Turkey on CPEC: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Turkey to join the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). According to Pakistani media, this CPEC invitation given to Turkey can help in eradicating poverty and bringing prosperity.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended the invitation during a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his visit to Ankara. However, till now no response has been received from Turkey. According to the news published in Pakistani newspaper, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that let there be a cooperation between China-Pakistan and Turkey. This could be a wonderful joint collaboration. Also today’s challenges can be faced. PM Sharif also said that if Turkey goes ahead with the idea of joining the CPEC, he would be “happy” to discuss the matter with the Chinese leadership.
CPEC is an important part of China’s project
In fact, CPEC is an important part of China’s project Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) which aims to renew the country’s ancient trade routes. At the same time, the Prime Minister believes that CPEC can help in empowering people with employment. Actually, this is not the first time that Pakistan has made such a proposal to Turkey. In the same year, Pakistan had extended an invitation to Turkey to join the CPEC worth billions of dollars. During that time, PM Shahbaz Sharif had said that mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey continues on many dimensions.
