Inter Services Public Relations: The Pakistan Army on Monday (June 26) said three officers, including a lieutenant-general, have been dismissed for failing to protect military installations during violent protests following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan on May 9. .
The army order states that 3 officers, including a lieutenant general, have been removed from army service, while strict disciplinary action has been taken against 15 officers, including 3 major generals and 7 brigadiers.
Court martial of three officers from the army
Major General Ahmed Sharif, DG of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said, “The events of May 9 have proved that what the enemy could not do in 76 years, some miscreants and their helpers did.” The ISPR DG further said that three officers, including a lieutenant general, have been court-martialed by the army.

former Prime Minister Imran Khan After his arrest (May 9), activists of his party PTI vandalized more than 20 military establishments and government buildings, including the Lahore Corps Commander House, the Mianwali airbase and the ISI building in Faisalabad. The army headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi was also attacked by the mob.
Officers failed to maintain security-respect
Military spokesman Major General Arshad Sharif said that the army has conducted two investigations and taken action regarding the protest by the supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. “In consultation with the accountability process and keeping in view the court’s scrutiny, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against those who failed to uphold the security and dignity of military establishments, Jinnah House and the General Headquarters,” he said.
He told that the investigation was done by Major General level officers. “All those involved (in the May 9 violence) will be punished under the Constitution and the law,” Sharif told a press conference. He described the May 9 incident as “extremely disappointing, condemnable and a dark chapter in the country’s history”. There was a strong reaction from the government and the army on the violence of 9th May and action has been initiated against the culprits.
