Mamata Banerjee Supports Wrestlers Protest: The support of the country’s wrestlers, who are protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, is increasing. Now West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has supported the wrestlers by tweeting. He said on Friday (April 28) that we all should stand with the protesting wrestlers. They are speaking with one voice. Our players are the pride of our country. They are champions.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal further said that the culprits should be brought to justice, irrespective of their political affiliation. Justice must prevail. Truth must win. Significantly, many national award-winning wrestlers are staging a sit-in demanding action against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for sexual harassment allegations.

Growing support for wrestlers

The wrestlers have also demanded the government to make public the report of the committee probing the allegations of sexual harassment. These wrestlers have also been supported by many leaders, khaps and former and current players. Expressing support for the wrestlers, Olympic gold medalists Neeraj Chopra and Abhinav Bindra demanded quick action from the authorities.

Neeraj Chopra said that the wrestlers were forced to hit the road for justice which is hurtful. What is happening should never happen. At the same time, Abhinav Bindra said that as a player, we work hard every day to represent our country at the international level. It is very sad to see that our players are finding it necessary to protest on the streets against the allegations of harassment in the Indian wrestling administration.
