Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir: Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir on Saturday (April 29) said that the armed forces are fully capable of defending the country and efforts for peace should never be seen as a sign of weakness. Munir was addressing the passing out parade of cadets at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul in Abbottabad district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

He said that Pakistan wants peace in the region and with its neighbors. The army chief said, “Our efforts for peace should never be seen as a sign of weakness.” The army chief said, “We have the will and ability to defend our sovereignty and territorial integrity, and are well aware of how to do so.”

General Asim Munir said that the armed forces will not back down from any sacrifice to stabilize and secure the future of the next generations. Munir said, “I assure the people of Pakistan that we will never hesitate to make sacrifices to protect our holy motherland.”

The remarks came at a time when senior journalist Hamid Mir claimed in a TV show a few days ago that former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had said in a meeting with 20-25 journalists in 2021 that the Pakistan Army was capable of combat Not there. According to Hamid Mir, Bajwa had said in the meeting that Pakistan is not in a position to fight a war with India.

Regarding Afghanistan, Munir said that stability, security and peace in Kabul are important for Pakistan’s security and said that efforts to bring peace in the region will continue. Regarding Kashmir, he said that Pakistan stands firmly with the people of Kashmir.

He said, we will continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to our Kashmiri brothers. He also said that the international community should realize that without a just and peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue, regional peace cannot be maintained.
