The opposition can bring a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Some parties associated with the opposition have started discussions on bringing a no-confidence motion against the chairman. However, no consensus has been reached yet regarding this. Work will be done to create a consensus on this in the next one or two days.
In the Rajya Sabha on Monday (9 December 2024), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sambit Patra and Nishikant Dubey accused top Congress leaders of colluding with billionaire investor George Soros to destabilize the country. The BJP alleged that Rahul Gandhi is a ‘traitor of the highest order’ and claimed that the Congress party is allegedly pushing Soros’ agenda against India. Congress demanded an apology regarding these allegations. The uproar continued in the House regarding this and the House came to a standstill.
A meeting was held on how to run the House.
As the House came to a standstill, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed concern about internal and external threats to India’s unity and sovereignty and warned that the influence of the “deep state” was “more deadly than the Covid disease.”
After three adjournments in a single day, Chairman Dhankhar held a meeting between the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition. Jagdeep Dhankhar said, “The purpose of that meeting was to ensure that the House runs smoothly. Both sides discussed openly and they indicated two things. First, the integrity and sovereignty of the nation is sacred to us. We within the country We cannot allow any outside force to denigrate our unity, our integrity and our sovereignty.”
There will be a meeting again regarding the uproar
He said that the leaders have agreed to meet again in his chamber at 10:30 am on Tuesday (10 December 2024) to continue the discussion. Chairman Dhankhar appealed to the members to uphold their constitutional oath and give priority to national integrity. He said, “We all need to come together and challenge any challenge to the unity and integrity of the nation from within or outside. This is a challenge to our existence.”
Emphasizing on collective responsibility, he said, “We as a nation are committed to fighting the evil forces, the forces hostile to India… a dark force that is emerging, it is up to all of us to neutralize it.” There is a need.”
