Only BSNL made a profit in July, everyone else suffered losses after the tariff hike


The government company BSNL is benefiting from the increase in mobile tariffs by various telecom companies. After the tariff hike, BSNL was the only telecom company in the month of July which saw an increase in the number of subscribers. Telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea suffered a loss of subscribers during this period.

BSNL users increased by more than 29 lakh

This information was given in a report by news agency PTI quoting telecom regulator TRAI. According to the report, during the month of July, the number of subscribers of government telecom company BSNL increased by more than 29.4 lakh. In the month of July, BSNL was the only telecom company whose number of subscribers increased.

Airtel suffered the most loss

On the other hand, Bharti Airtel suffered the maximum loss of 16.9 lakh mobile subscribers. Similarly, Vodafone Idea’s subscriber base decreased by 14.1 lakh and Reliance Jio’s subscriber base decreased by 7.58 lakh. Talking about the overall telecom industry, the subscriber base declined slightly to 120.517 crores in July, which was 120.564 crores a month ago.

Tariff became so expensive from July

Telecom companies had made mobile services expensive in the past. The increase in mobile tariff was implemented from July 1. After that, telecom companies have suffered a loss of users in July. At that time, telecom companies had increased mobile tariff in the range of 10 to 27 percent. Only BSNL has not increased the mobile tariff.

Mobile users decreased in these circles

After the tariff hike, the mobile user base declined in Northeast, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Mumbai, Kolkata, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Bihar, West Bengal, UP East, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh telecom circles. According to TRAI data, the number of users in the fixed line connection segment increased by about 1 percent to 355.6 lakh in July. Their number was at 351.1 lakh a month ago.
