India China Border: An agreement has been signed between India and China for patrolling on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Indian and Chinese troops will be able to resume patrolling as before the border standoff began in May 2020, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said at the NDTV World Summit today. Earlier today, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that India and China have reached a patrolling arrangement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Himalayas and this could lead to withdrawal of troops and resolution of tensions.
S. Jaishankar told how things happened?
Jaishankar told NDTV, “We have reached an agreement on patrolling and we are back to the 2020 status quo. With this we can say that disengagement with China is complete. Details will be revealed in due course.” Will come.”
Jaishankar said, “There are areas where after 2020 for different reasons they stopped us, we stopped them. Now we have reached an agreement under which patrolling will be allowed as we were doing till 2020.” The External Affairs Minister said the success on the LAC was a good development which happened because of “patience and firm diplomacy”.
‘It was not as easy as it looks’
Jaishankar said, “Many times people had almost given up. We have always said that on the one hand we had to do counter-deployment and we have been in talks since September 2020. It has been a very patient process, although it took longer than it should have.” , is much more complicated than that.”
He said, “The important thing is that if we reach some understanding then I think it will create the basis for peace and stability on the border, which was there before 2020. That was a big concern. If there is no peace and stability If so, how can other areas of bilateral relations be improved?”
Talks between the two countries took place on August 29.
The last meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs was held in Beijing on August 29. Subsequently, both sides had a frank, constructive and forward-looking exchange of views on the situation along the LAC, with a view to narrowing down differences and finding early resolution of outstanding issues.
