Told India – a tested friend

Describing India as a tested friend, Sheikh Hasina said that our friendship is going on since 1971. India has stood by Bangladesh in every hour of need. In 1971 and then later also our relationship has remained unbroken. At that time the then Prime Minister had given us shelter in India.

Appreciate PM Modi fiercely

Many of our students were trapped in Ukraine during the Russo-Ukraine war, when India took its students out of there, then our students were also evacuated from there, I thank Prime Minister Modi for this. Further said, I also thank the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for the Vaccine Friendship initiative. India provided the vaccine not only to Bangladesh but also to other South Asian countries.

The problem of water sharing should be solved

On the water-sharing dispute between India-Bangladesh, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said – We are located downstream and the water is coming from India. So India should show more generosity. Both the countries will benefit from this. Sometimes our people suffer a lot, especially because of Teesta river. Now the problem of water, I think it should be solved soon. PM(Narendra Modi) Very eager to solve this problem, but there is problem in your country too. We share only the water of Ganga but there are 54 other rivers also. This is a long standing problem and it should be solved.

Said on the problem of Rohingya Muslims, minorities-

This is a huge burden for us Rohingya, we are in consultation with the international community and our neighbours. So that they (Rohingya) can go back home. We are giving them (Rohingya) shelter, providing everything. Vaccine was also made available to him during Kovid. But how long will they stay here? Some people are involved in drug smuggling, women smuggling, the sooner they go back to their homes, it is good for our country and for Myanmar.
