US NSA Sullivan talks to Yunus: Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is on a 6-day US tour from today. Meanwhile, India’s global power was visible even before he reached America. Even before Foreign Minister S Jaishankar reached America, America’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan gave advice to Mohammad Yunus and also warned him not to commit any kind of atrocities on minorities.
America’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan on Monday spoke to Mohammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh. According to a press release issued by the US government, Sullivan also thanked Yunus for leading Bangladesh during challenging times. The press release said the two leaders expressed their commitment to respecting and protecting the human rights of all people, regardless of their religion.
India’s strict message on Bangladesh issue
This visit of Jaishankar is taking place at a time when the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh remains a major matter of concern. There is deep dissatisfaction in India with the increasing atrocities against the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh. In these circumstances, the Indian government has adopted a strategy to put pressure on Bangladesh. It is believed that Jaishankar will give a strong message to Bangladesh with the help of America during his visit.
India’s position strengthened with American support
America has already warned Bangladesh to ensure the safety of minorities. Recently, America clarified its stand and warned Bangladesh not to violate human rights. This step further strengthens India’s stand.
