Myanmar Citizens Immigration: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed on Sunday (January 5) that 26 citizens of Myanmar, who entered India through the state’s open border, have been sent back to their country. The Chief Minister made it clear that his government is fully committed to taking strict action against illegal migration. These citizens, who entered India illegally through the border of Manipur, have now been handed over to the Myanmar authorities.
Sharing a post on social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that Myanmar citizens who were entering India using the open border of Manipur have now been sent back to Myanmar. He also said that the state government is adopting a strict stance against illegal immigrants living in Manipur. The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to maintain the security and law and order of the state.
Strict action continues against illegal migration
The CM also mentioned that his government is committed to providing humanitarian assistance to the people who have fled Myanmar to Manipur due to the war. However, it was also ensured that the process of sending those who have escaped the war back to their country in an honorable manner will continue. N Biren Singh said that the aim of the state government is to provide an opportunity to these people to return to their homes safely while strict action is being taken against illegal migration.
Manipur government took concrete steps against illegal immigrants
These 26 Myanmar nationals were handed over to their authorities with the help of state police and central forces in Manipur’s border town Moreh. Myanmar authorities accepted him back. This step is part of the concrete steps taken by the Manipur government against illegal immigrants which will help in maintaining security and law and order in the state.
