Sharad Pawar on Nitish Kumar: Before the Lok Sabha elections, the movement of a strong opposition has intensified again. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar has said on Monday (May 08) that he will meet Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his visit to Mumbai on May 11. He believes that the country needs an alternative to the present BJP-led government.
According to news agency PTI, Sharad Pawar said, “I have received a message that Nitish Kumar is coming to Mumbai on May 11. We will meet, although I do not have complete information about it. Our view is that the country needs an alternative (to the BJP government).
‘Everyone needs to work together’
The NCP chief said, “Those who want to contribute, be it Nitish or Mamta (West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress leader), I think we all need to work together for this.”
At the same time, Pawar also said that there was no discussion on the sharing of Lok Sabha seats with his political allies Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress (all three parties are constituents of Maha Vikas Aghadi) in Maharashtra.
He said, “The leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi will sit together and then discuss the seat-sharing formula. There is no point in staking claim on a particular Lok Sabha seat before such meetings.”
Nitish Kumar’s round of meetings continues
At the same time, Nitish Kumar has met Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav last month. In this sequence, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is to meet on Tuesday (May 09) and Nitish Kumar with Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai on Thursday (May 11).
